Education: Evan graduated locally from The Potomac School in 2012 as an Eagle Scout and an AP Scholar with Distinction. He then went to William and Mary where he graduated in 2016 with a B.S. in Chemistry and worked on ligand synthesis for an organometallic catalyst lab. While at William and Mary, Evan studied in Argentina at the National University of La Plata and the Provincial Commission for Memory, completing Spanish-language coursework on Argentine history and human rights abuses during the last military dictatorship.
Experience: During college, Evan worked as a Teaching Assistant for students in General Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry I classes. He ran teaching labs for these students, where he assisted them in setting up and running the laboratory experiments and also answered questions about the theory. During his study abroad program, he lived in Argentina for a full semester, communicating daily in Spanish. Evan joined MLS in 2017 and has experience working both as an academic and executive functioning specialist in Group and in one-on-ones.
Specialties: Evan enjoys teaching all levels of science and math to students in middle school, in high school, and at the college level. He strives for students to make real-world connections and applications where they otherwise might get lost in the numbers and jargon. Evan takes a steady, grammar-first approach to Spanish, solidifying the skills that students learn in the classroom while helping students to make connections between new vocab and previously-learned material. Evan incorporates executive function skill-building in his lessons to support student’s development in this critical area.
